George Mason NCBI Chapter
The Mission of the GMU/Northern Virginia NCBI Chapter:
The GMU/Northern Virginia NCBI Chapter, affiliated with the National Coalition Building Institute, is dedicated to ending the mistreatment of every group based on nationality, race, class, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, and job or life circumstances. We are located in the George Mason University Multicultural Research and Resource Center on the Fairfax Campus.
We are entering a new phase of development which requires bold and courageous leadership. The GMU/Northern Virginia NCBI Team seeks to develop leaders, both on and off campus, who can take principled stands, model being fierce allies for all groups, confront emotional group conflicts in an effort to resolve those issues that keep us divided, and build coalitions. The Team trains campus and community leaders in the skills of prejudice reduction, intergroup conflict resolution, and coalition building. NCBI trains leaders who work together in multicultural teams, and empower others to eliminate the harmful effects of institutionalized discrimination, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to work together toward shared goals.
The GMU/Northern Virginia Chapter schedules three types of workshops at various times during the year.
